Project Goodacre
- S
plit screen camper.
I just wanted to send you an e-mail to say thanks so much for all the help you gave us to complete the interior of our van.
The cushions that you made for us are truly outstanding and the stitching is so good that it gives the cushions a really crisp look. The material that you found for us is a perfect match for the other interior panels and all five of the cushions have been measured up perfectly so they fit like a glove.
I also wanted to say thank you for the craftsmanship put into the cabinet making.
Working only from a few pictures of an original 1959 Devon interior, you have managed to build us a perfect match.
It is all the little details that you don't see at first glance that make it so special.
For example, how every piece of the interior has been cut in so it fits perfectly into place and how all the grain in the wood matches as it runs through each piece of the furniture - The quality is truly amazing.

We couldn't be happier with how the van has turned out and we would recommend Awesome to anyone.
Thanks once again.

Project Sav's bus
- 1967
11 - window deluxe split screen camper.
After picking up my Bus from www.vwsurgery.co.uk following a bare metal resto, it was obvious that a standard off the shelf interior just would not cut it.
The interior needed to match the 'wow' factor and quality of the exterior.
I found out about Awesome, from an advert in Volksworld, and as they were quite local to me decided to give them a call.
I spoke to Glenn, and he suggested that I take the bus over, so we could discuss options.
At this point I was not sure what exactly I wanted, and the guy's were very patient with me.
Initially I was going to have a cabinet built and put in, but after a very wet weekend at Whitenoise, decided that I wanted as much space within the bus as possible.
We spoke at length about various designs for the seats, and they showed me a selection of fabrics.
There was a faux leather in particular that matched the colour of the bus perfectly.
After much consideration I decided that I needed to be true to the bus and myself and chose a 'Ska' style check.
I went back to Awesome and we talked through the design, nothing appeared to be a problem for them.
The bus was with them for approx 3 weeks, and I was sure it was in safe hands.
When I got the call to say it was finished, I headed over full of excitement, and if you have a bus you will know what I mean!
The interior is absolutely amazing, the design suits the bus perfectly, the quality of the materials is top quality and workmanship is second to none.
I am very pleased with the result, it looks superb, feels quality and truly compliments the exterior.
I would recommend Glenn and Greg and the Awesome experience to anyone.

Project Vodafone "Live" music bus
1966 - 21 window deluxe split screen Samba.
We totally transformed the interior of this bus for Vodafone, who featured the bus outside the 2006 Vodafone "Live" music awards
in London, as part of their launch of the Vodafone “Live” music campaign.
After only ten days we managed to turn around something rather special on the interior of this jaw dropping example of a 66 split
screen samba.
The interior conversion started with creating a separating wall set above the engine shelf, which was flat one side with a curvature
facing the barn door on the other.

As soon as you open the barn door you are faced with a 32” plasma screen which is wired to a laptop surrounded by four handsets
and a set of top quality speakers.
This is all fitted into a curved black and red leather interior, which is backlit by downward facing rear spotlights.
From here you can play games, watch sport, and even enjoy a sound system powered by a Nokia N70 handset.

The main interior and front cab sections are just as functional and stylish, as they are also fully finished in natural black and red
leather, and have a separate sound system to the rear which is also powered by another handset.
Other features include twin rear facing leather captain’s chairs with sub woofer speakers built into the base to give the ultimate base
kick, cool mini fridge dividing the two chairs, and a custom made leather table complete with fixtures to house a laptop and four
more handsets.
The reverse side of the leather dividing wall also features more spotlights, which illuminate across the middle and front sections of the bus.

This vehicle is doing the festival and shopping centre venues to promote the campaign this year, so if you see the bus about,
please take a snap and send it to us!

Client comment:-
"better than we'd imagined it", once again thank you for a fantastic job on the camper and I’m sure we will be in touch over the next few months with another project.
Many thanks for all your hard work.

Project Ghia
1965 ex Californian karmann ghia.
Earlier this year I was introduced to Glenn and Greg Ward from Awesome who recently completed the interior re-build on my mate Spanish’s Splitty.

We got chatting about a certain little project I had been contemplating for a couple of years and after a few drinks and a few hours we had hatched “Project Ghia”

Let me take you back a step or two first,….

I purchased my dream car a couple of years ago. It is an ex Californian 1965 VW Karmann Ghia with all the right bits in all the right places. Sure, it needed a bit of tweaking here and there before I was happy with it and no doubt there will be more to come but she is now pretty much how I want her but there was one major thing I had to do and that was the not so pretty interior!! To be honest, the thought of such a job feared me with dread as it looked such a mess and my somewhat ambitious plans felt good in theory but for me to turn them into reality was way beyond my capabilities and I like to think I can turn my hand to most things.

After putting up with it for as long as I could, I made the decision that it had to be done but most importantly, it had to be done by professionals who know what they are doing. This is when I met the Awesome boys and we got talking about working together on the car.

Being a designer myself, I had a pretty clear idea on what I wanted but was also keen for Glenn and Greg to fully bring all of their design and flair to the project. The brief was to create a sleek stripped out race car interior but to have elements of luxury too as I do pretty much use the car as my daily driver. We worked up some initial sketches between us and materials were suggested by Awesome together with ideas on different stitching details and features all of which have made such a difference to the end result. It is this attention to detail which I feel puts them ahead of many others and made the whole “client/contractor” relationship much more personal and ultimately more enjoyable for all of us. They were professional, friendly and helpful throughout and brought some alternative ways of thinking to the project.

It was also at this point that I mentioned the project to my very good friend and business partner Dave Jones. Dave and I run a metallic artwork business called IZEN. IZEN specialise in artwork, signage, and sculptures made from stainless steel. Dave and I chatted through some ideas and felt we should do the car as a joint venture between IZEN and AWESOME. We designed and made custom components in stainless steel including the whole of the floor, pedals and signature door strips and have already thought of other components to re-design and replace over the next few months.

The end result is 100% perfection as far as I am concerned and I am more than happy to fully recommend AWESOME for anything you have that may involve upholstery. If you have a vehicle that needs an interior re-fit then do not hesitate in contacting them to have a chat about your requirements. I can assure you will not be disappointed.

The following people made “PROJECT GHIA” possible and they have my utmost respect and appreciation…. Thanks guys.

Project 57
1967 - 11 window deluxe split screen camper.
In October 2004 I had the chance to buy this 1967 11 window deluxe split screen camper (bus) from T3D (Type3detectives).
It was a dream of mine to own one of these classic vehicles, straight away me and my friends got together and had visions for this van, on how it was going to look and perform, bearing in mind it was only a shell when I brought it

With good advice from Paul (T3D) and a lot of help from my friend’s (not forgetting the patience from my girlfriend Jane) we cracked on with the restoration.
As the months went by a friends wedding was planned for November 2005, and we all decided it would be a great idea to use the van to drive the bride and bridesmaids to the church.

With all the mechanical side of the van then complete, I needed to find someone who could not only compete with the great job Paul (T3D) did, but maybe even go one step further. I was later given a mobile number for Glenn from Awesome
(Project Co-ordinator) via another friend, who said they could really add something special to the van, and advised it would be worth giving them a call……

After speaking to Glenn and telling him my plans for the van, we meet for the first time at the end of October 2005, and started to go through some ideas for the interior design, along with Greg (Awesome’s Chief Designer), and Beatz.
With a plan to hand, the interior project then got underway.

As the pictures show you, these guys really now what there doing, there craftsmanship and ideas speaks for themselves.
Not only was I happy with the final product, but these guys actually turned this around in 3 days, working to meet our tight wedding schedule….AWESOME……

If any one is thinking of having there interior done to there car, whether it’s a VW to a Triumph……, do the same I did when I was
given there number…… CALL THEM !!!
Massive respect and thanks to Glenn & Greg from Awesome, (also not forgetting the mad collie that runs after everything at the farm) for making me probably one of the happiest VW owner there is in Cambridgeshire.!!
