Awesome transformation from Fire engine to 'luxury limo'

Get the party started: Lee Russell leans out of Mary, his Green Goddess fire engine,
which we transformed into a rolling wedding and party venue.

Awesome's newest project gets nationwide exposure.

Feel like a knees-up with a difference? Then what about a 'pimped-up' 1957 Green Goddess, called Mary.

The fire engine has all the mod-cons a party vehicle needs – including a state-of-the-art sound and entertainment system, disco lighting, champagne bars and a faux green and cream leather interior.
Of course, it also comes complete with 100m (328ft) of hosing, should there be a real-life disco inferno.

Working closely with the owner Lee Russell from Holywell, Cambridgeshire, who bought the fire engine back in November 2007, Awesome has created a one of a kind interior for the newest addition to his new business “Alterative Limos”.

The commercial deep sea diver commented: 'I love historic vehicles and wanted something that would make a statement, something I could have fun with. She certainly turns heads.'

Lee bought the Green Goddess, which spent its working life at RAF Sealand in Deeside, Wales and found out she was in service during the fire brigade strikes of the 1970s, when the Army had to step in to fight fires.

He added: 'She went on three jobs – two fires and one cat rescue, the cat died.
I felt so sad she hadn't been put to good use,
so she won't be saving lives now but she'll bring a lot of joy to lots of people.'
The project took a total of four months to complete the eight-seater 'dream machine,' so it's lucky the engine was in perfect condition – although Lee only gets 8mpg.
'She isn't economical but she's a one of a kind' he said.

With media exposure already in the bag from ITV, BBC and radio, the bookings, interest and feedback on this luxury limousine has been nationwide in a matter of days!
And appropriately enough, Mr Russell's first booking for "Mary" is for a posse of Cambridgeshire policewomen looking for a hot night out.

Truckfest 2008.

We can now reveal the full details of our latest completed project, which is to be showcased at Truckfest.
Its a Green Goddess fire engine with a difference, as we have converted the fire engine into a luxury eight seater limousine.
It features faux leather and suede custom upholstery throughout, two Champagne bars, music video player, top of the range sound system and custom lighting effects.
At a flick of a couple of switches, this classic looking interior can transform into a mini nightclub.
We will be joining our friends at www.alternativelimos.co.uk on Sunday and Monday at Truckfest to launch the customised Green Goddess, so it would be great to see Awesome visitors old and new too.

Awesome new project gets BBC interest.

Awesome had the pleasure this week of Mike Cartwright from BBC Look East.
Mike and his team spent the morning filming our latest project, which is an old RAF green goddess fire engine.
The project consists of totally transforming the standard fireman cab interior into a fully functional commercial interior.
That's all we can disclose at this early stage, but we anticipate the interior to be finished by late January / mid February 2008.
The vehicle will then be filmed again to view the transformation, and then go out on air sometime in February.
Further details will follow.
Thanks again to Mike and his team.

VW Whitenoise 2007.

Congratulations to Paul & Yana for winning this years "Best Interior" trophy, sponsored by Awesome.
They also walked away with the Awesome Body Bag prize, which I'm told was in full use on Sunday evening by Yana after a full weekend of showing their splitty to the adoring crowds.

Originally from the US, this Awesome example of a LHD splitty, came complete with a custom interior created in the states.
This included fluted brown fabric mixed with brown faux leather on the seating and door cards, plus a suede headlining.

Paul & Yana have added their own touches to the vehicle though, which included removing the old deep piled carpet and replacing this with faux laminate flooring throughout, curtains, some upholstery, dash mounted multimedia centre and a hand built corner cupboard made by Paul from an old IKEA blind!
These slight touches have really complemented, updated and given the interior of the bus a real facelift.

Above all though, they have successfully spliced the interior to the exterior in a style which is their own, but is also accessible to most peoples capabilities and budgets.

Paul & Yana - Winners of VW Whitenoise "Best Interior" trophy 2007.
As awarded by Awesome.

Episode: CROYDON - Mon 22nd Jan
The 60 minute makeover team phoned us back in July 2006, having taken our details at the Grand Design live exhibition at the London excel.
They asked us to supply them with a special Manchester United coloured Body Bag to add to a themed children's bedroom design their doing for a show which was broadcast today.
The Body Bag is white one side and red the other.

The background on today's makeover family is as follows :-
Mark and Heidi tragically lost their daughter Mollie to leukaemia last year - which was very difficult for all the family.
Heidi nursed Mollie as her condition deteriorated and they both stopped work in order to spend more time with the children.
Mark describes Heidi is a giving person, who always helps others and who loves surprising people.
Mark now thinks its time to surprise Heidi and has called in the 60 Minute Makeover team to re-vamp their 3 bed semi!

We hope Cameron and Nathan enjoy the Body Bag and we wish all the family the very best for the future.

PROJECT: Sav's bus.
Our next project is Sav's Bus, a 1967 left hand drive splitty which looks absolutely stunning.
The body has been carefully restored and re-sprayed with a deep coloured aubergine finish.
This has really been complimented with the natural touches of chrome and a great set of wheels.

Sav contacted us back in June with the following request:-
I am Keen to get this work done, and to a high standard, as the bus has had a full resto and is a show winner, it just needs a interior that will show it off in all it's glory.

Sav has already approached Volksworld for a 2007 feature, and they are awaiting interior completion.
An interior design has been approved and work on Sav's bus will start shortly.
Check back soon for further updates.

We have pictures already (but it was raining), but more will be forwarded to us and published online.

In a word - "she is one of the best VW interiors we have had the pleasure in creating".
